Applications Details

Admiralty Secondary is offering DSA in the following 9 talent areas:

1.     Robotics (Girls and Boys)

2.     STEM (Girls and Boys)

3.     Community Youth Leadership (Girls and Boys)

4.     National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC) (Boys and Girls)

5.     Concert Band (Girls and Boys)

6.     Ensemble Guzheng (Girls and Boys)

7.     Wushu (Girls and Boys)

8.     Netball (Girls)

9.     Rugby (Boys)

Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 5 May 2022, 11am to 1 June 2022, 3pm. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

Shortlisted students will be notified by the school by end June regarding their interview session. The interview sessions will likely be conducted from Term 3 Week 2 to Term 3 Week 4.

Criteria

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

Robotics (Girls and Boys)

 

  • Represented school at national level robotics competition, or individual participation at national level (for applicants whose schools do not have robotics or similar clubs). Demonstrates evidence and understanding of a programming language, preferably related to Lego Mindstorms, EV3 classroom or Scratch.

STEM (Girls and Boys)

 

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of one micro-controller (e.g. Micro:bits, Arduino) or have some knowledge of two different micro-controllers.
  • Have evidence to demonstrate passion to serve the community using STEM knowledge.

Leadership and Uniformed Groups

Community Youth Leadership (Girls and Boys)

  • Currently holding or has held leadership positions in class, CCA, school, community or other external organisations

National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC) (Girls and Boys)

 

  • Currently holding or has held leadership positions in class, CCA, school, community or other external organisations.
  • Possess interest and knowledge of life saving skills and/or fire safety.

Performing Arts

Concert Band (Girls and Boys)

  • Possess proficiency in selected musical group
  • Prior experience in selected performing art (preferably representation in their school/club in at least one recognised performance)

Ensemble Guzheng (Girls and Boys)

Sports and Games

Wushu (Girls and Boys)

  • Possess proficiency in selected sports
  • Prior sports experience in selected sports (preferably representation in their school/club in at least one recognised tournament)

 

Netball (Girls)

Rugby (Boys)
